Talent tech thoughts: Reflecting on 2023 and heading into 2024

As we close out 2023 and reset for the months ahead, AMS is looking forward to a new year of tech talent learnings and industry changes. Heading into the unknown tech landscape is going to be undoubtedly transformative for talent teams worldwide. I’ve spent the last few weeks on press tours and other motivational meetings and I’ve come to several reflections and conclusions about 2023 as they relate to progress I think we’ll see in the next 12 months.

  1. Innovation is coming rapidly and those companies with a strong tech strategy, a data-first approach and tech-forward culture will source hires with less roadblocks.
  2. A candidate experience can be improved by technology. Looking at how to leverage tools to support a candidate experience while satisfying business goals has been and will continue to be paramount – with discoveries along the way.
  3. AI will present exciting wins and new challenges. Skills-based hiring will evolve. Organizations willing to test and learn in these spaces will arrive at many takeaways for their hiring processes.
  4. Improved efficiency within an organization is always a priority but will become moreso as technology is adopted. How to implement, integrate and manage technology is more and more a part of how to drive efficiency in talent sourcing.
  5. The RPO relationship we know has evolved. Recruitment is now about strategic partnerships and leveraging the right digital platforms and infrastructure to find talent.
  6. Integrating the best talent technology for your business is going to be critical – there will be benefits to some tech and setbacks to others so a careful selection with the right support team will help elevate your talent agenda.
  7. Technology can be leveraged for many things – from internal mobility to creating job postings. Opportunities are becoming endless, so understanding what’s available can help in defining strategy.
  8. Ease of scalability and better responsiveness to market and employment situation changes will be a great tool for organizations wanting workforce flexibility.
  9. Compliance can’t be forgotten. New regulations around AI will continue to come into effect and these processes must be audited and actioned when leveraging tech to find talent.
  10. If in 2023 you didn’t feel tech-ready, don’t worry. You’re going to achieve a lot in the year ahead if you determine what those next steps are for satisfying your talent acquisition goals. There is a world of talent at your fingertips, you just need the right plan and tech to be effective.
