Happy International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia!

Today it's International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, an important day for the LGBTQ+ community.  As a gay man I reflect on my journey of coming out and the positive experience and support that I've had from friends, family and colleagues.  However, I know that my positive experience can be very different from many others who are still not able to be themselves across the World.  Therefore today it's important for us all to pause, reflect and continue to support the LGBTQ+ community.

Yesterday in the UK, Jake Daniels became the first professional football player to come out whilst still playing.  This shouldn't be big news, but it is!  We know there are other gay players across all leagues, who won't come out because they are worried about reaction from fans and potential negative impact on their sponsorship deals etc.  Massive kudos to Jake, however, this demonstrates that we still have a long way to go in to achieve LGBTQ equity and inclusion across the globe!

For now Happy International Day Against Homophobia Transphobia and Biphobia! #IDAHOBIT22

Blackpool's Jake Daniels said his decision to come out as the UK's only openly gay active male professional footballer would allow him to be "free and confident".
