Celebrating Our Continued Commitment to the Armed Forces

Yesterday, we proudly hosted a signing ceremony to renew the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (Gold Standard) for another five years. We are honoured to be the only talent solutions business to re-sign the Armed Forces Covenant after ten years.

The event, held at the Honourable Artillery Ground, was a momentous occasion attended by clients, colleagues, and partners. We were privileged to have Major General Marc Overton, representing the Armed Forces, and Gordon Bull, AMS's Executive Committee sponsor of our Military Employee Resource Group, join us for this celebration.

Our dedication to supporting Armed Forces personnel, spouses, and reservists remains unwavering. We take particular pride in our partnership with Recruit for Spouses, a vital member of our D&I Alliance. Together, we work tirelessly to help military spouses transition into meaningful employment.

London, 25th June 2024

AMS, the global talent solutions business, today re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, at the Honorable Artillery Company in London. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect in the community, economy and wider society. The signing took

Major General Marc Overton commented: “Thank you to AMS for its continued support of the Armed Forces Community. In addition, AMS recently renewed its ‘Gold Status’ under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme for another five years which continues to be achieved through its partnership with organisations such as Recruit for Spouses which supports the Armed Forces community and their families into meaningful and long-term work.”

Heledd Kendrick, CEO of Recruit for Spouses, also noted: “AMS has been instrumental in helping Recruit for Spouses move the dial for military spouses’ employment by creating an outstanding 500,000 hours of flexible part-time work for our miliary community.  At a time when social mobility is so critical to our nation’s future growth, the support that AMS has offered over the years has been transformational to so many military families throughout the UK.   We are delighted to be part of such a wonderful occasion and many thanks again to everyone at AMS, our collective partnership has changed the outcomes and enhanced life chances for so many people.”

In reference to AMS’s long-term relationship with the Armed Forces community, Gordon Bull, Managing Director, Legal & Risk and Military ERG ExCo sponsor, went on to explain: “Supporting the Armed Forces community is of course the right thing to do. But at AMS we go further, and our support is far from a tick box exercise. We understand that engaging with the Armed Forces community can provide huge benefits to our business and to the many clients we partner with.  Over the years, we have witnessed first-hand, that employing and retaining military personnel as well as partnering with Recruit for Spouses makes commercial sense. We have observed that in supporting the Armed Forces community, they will reap the rewards of acquiring a portfolio of skills and behaviours, ranging from recognised business and technical qualifications, to desirable ‘softer’ transferable skills such as leadership, team working and problem solving. All of which are skills hugely beneficial in a modern working environment.”
